The audio launch of Selva Raghavan’s Aayirathil Oruvan – held at the University Centenary Hall in Chennai – was one of the best launches in recent time. The highlight of the function was the live performance of four songs (out of the album’s 10 songs) by G V Prakash and his team. The singers, who sang in the film, also performed live.

GV, as he is known among friends, is the third and youngest music director to perform live on stage after Ilayaraja and AR Rahman. Rahman’s mother, Kareema Begum, and his sisters were present to cheer him.

Another outstanding performance came from actor Dhanush and his wife who sang the peppy number Un Mele Aasadhaan…. along with Andrea.

To add to the fun was a fashion show, a Kalari performance, chenda melam by women from Kerala and a classical dance performance by actress Poorna.

Selva Raghavan, however, preferred to keep a low profile – he sat in the audience with his wife Sonia and enjoyed the show
